Our History
Avon Locker, Inc. is a family-owned and operated, custom state and federal-inspected processing and retail shop. This family-run meat market takes pride in providing high-quality meat products from local farms to its customers. The Avon Locker Plant houses both a slaughter and processing facility as well as a retail center where customers may come in and purchase fresh or frozen meats, local cheese, and much more. The family business, started by John Oechslin, originated on Main Street in Darlington. The market then made its way up the hill to the area known as the village of Avon. In 1947 Hans E. (John) Oechslin built and named the current facility Avon Locker Plant. In 1969, John's daughter and son-in-law Rosemary & Bill Parkinson worked to carry on the family tradition. They worked side by side almost every day for over 30 years! In 1998 Rosie and Bill's daughter Diane and son-in-law, Roch took over and expanded the facility to include a retail store and catering. To start the new year in 2023 Roch and Diane's oldest son, Andrew, and wife Kelli took ownership of Avon Locker. Andrew manages the operations and recently tackled a tremendous addition to better accommodate the expanding business.
Avon now offers more than ever and is thankful for the lifelong relationships built with their customers.
